Fitting Hooves and Dewclaws on a Light-Colored Calf

In this video, Jon Gevelinger demonstrates how to deal with hooves and dewclaws when fitting a light-colored calf. In cattle with light-colored hair, the hooves and dewclaws are typically a light color too. During the fitting process, some excess adhesive and paint will probably get on your calf's hooves. You may be tempted to cover this by painting the entire hoof white, but this can wind up looking unnatural since the hooves are naturally a different shade of white than the hair. Instead, Jon recommend carefully using ProRefit to remove the excess adhesive and paint from the hooves and dewclaws. This will yield a much more natural-looking result, without leaving any oily residue on your calf.
